so here is an interesting new entry so i can demonstrate to the waiting millions all the groovy things you can do to the template

poor old pitas are having almost as many problems with their server as i am having with mine which is falling over every few days - pitas is screwing up my entries to the extent that it inserted my latest entry into the middle of an older entry which puzzled me until i discovered that part of the entry had been added to my template - how? why?

what really worries me is the way that sometimes when you edit an entry it just treats it as a new entry and then you have two versions of the same entry

the good news is that pitas is moving to a new server and with incredible synchronicity i am also making some considerable prgress with the new mm server which is a juicy 256mb g4 400 running apache and mac os x for servers - at the time of writing it returns a 404 error when you ask it for a page but with any luck it will only be a matter of umm... days before this is fixed :1

and so it may not be long before ephemera says thank god first term is over and goodbye and thanks for all the fish to pitas...

so it must be time to add something to this so called pass standard blog for all the sad people who have got nothing better to do than come to this site
well i have got my first assessment grade so why bother doing any more work on my site? - continuity mark? what's that?

what follows is an index of spilling muesli all over the puter and cleaning the keyboard

,..;;l;';;lkm,.,hjhm,. ./ nb v mnbvcxcvvdfghjjhjk;;lkkjklkjkkopp;;;/[][09865dx,

it has been a hectic couple of weeks with the term ending and all the assessments and installing the transference show and the opening and friends came from far and wide to be at the opening and stayed for a while - there was even a first year ba(mm) student (hi jade!)at the post opening dinner and the post post impromptu party at my house

to add to the excitement i found out i am being sent to the apple worldwide developers conference in san jose in may by the apple universities consortium - it will be fun to schlepp around in the californian sun and have short stacks for breakfast for a week oh and to find out about the latest developments in new operating systems :1- i am hoping to spend lots of time in diners and maybe pick up a cheap psion revo - i have flown to west coast once before and it wasn't too bad 13 hours is do-able and i felt only slightly jet lagged

when the students come back we will tackle director and this is always a fun part of any introductory multimedia programme

a few people are already enquiring what the next assignment will be - how keen is that ? of course i haven't actually written it up yet but we will do three exercises exploring basic director functions which must be completed and work properly and these will form the basis of a screen saver in which each of 640x480 pixels should play a part :)

there was much joy at the festival on monday night too due to atom egoyan's wonderful new film felicia's journey about which it is best not to know too much - you just have to see it - i would certainly avoid the trailer on the official site which is even more offensive than the one for festen and less true to the filmbut it does have some wonderful recipes

i have been a big fan of egoyan ever since i saw family viewing which due to the fact that it came out at the same time as the overrated sex lies and videotape didn't get the attention it deserved

less wonderful was bill bennet's newie in a savage land the experience of which was made bearable only by maya stange's incredibly beautiful mouth

i don't go to the movies much since i hate hollywood hype and i live in wagga wagga an obscure regional town in australia where you might say the choice is somewhat limited and anyway i prefer watching movies on video since i can fall asleep if i'm tired and it is not interesting enough or rewind it and watch it again straight away if it is

fortunately once a year we have the travelling film festival and i went to see festen thomas vinterburg's stunning dogme film specially made for those who hate hollywood hype - not that you'd know it from the trailer for its american release...

my aftershave has gone off - i smell like a mixture between a wet dog and a burnt omlette - it is the olivier b.bommel aftershave my mother bought at the hema as a present for me in christmas 1998 - and about which i complained bitterly at the time - but it grew on me and now i won't use anything else although i will have to now - as you might have gathered form the dates i don't use it very often and this is because i don't shave very often :) quite how aftershave can go off i don't know since i thought it consisted chiefly of alcohol...

i am thinking of buying a psion revo - i'd like to be able to do some simple text entry and check my email more easily and to do so on a little device which weighs 7 ounces (that's about 200 grams in new money) sounds ideal

here is a wonderful tool to help you get the colour scheme you want on your web page - if for some strange reason you are forced to do it in html :)
